Majestic
Arrived 10/23/2018
11/4/2018: Majestic has proven to be the biggest sweetheart with a playful personality and will be a great addition to a new family! She gets along incredibly well with our resident Boxer and they play wonderfully together. You can definitely tell she is still just a young 3 years old by how playful she can be, but she does a really good job of calming down once you let her know that playtime is over. She has yet to be around children, but I think that if the child respects her space and acts calmly around her, she'd be fine. She takes a little while to warm up to new people, but if you ignore her when you first meet her and let her come to you, she does well.
She loves relaxing in the dog bed, playing with toys, chewing on bones, and being loved on. She's been doing great in an apartment with 3 walks a day. She definitely needs to be taken to a secure, fully-fenced area a couple times a week to be able to run and stretch her legs out as she often gets the zoomies on-leash during some of our bathroom breaks!
While she loves sleeping in her crate with us around, she doesn't do well when we leave her alone in it. She does have a case of separation anxiety, but I think that as long as you have a lot of patience and approach the training correctly, she'd be able to overcome this. Due to this, I do think she'd do better in a home with another dog as she even shows some lack of confidence on walks alone without our resident Boxer.
Overall, Majestic is a wonderful, sweet, and loving Greyhound that will make a great addition to her new forever home!
11/25/2018: Majestic has been making amazing progress with her ability to be left alone in her crate! We have been able to leave her for 2.5 hours. I stuff her large Kong with a little kibble, pureed pumpkin, and peanut butter. That usually only lasts her 20-30 minutes but it's enough to help her get through the initial part of being alone. She then will lie down the rest of the time. We have also been leaving the radio on while we're gone which seems to help soothe her.
She has also had the opportunity to be around many children, both at the Meet & Greet events we attend and while on walks. She does great with all of them.
