Greyhound Pets of America, Indianapolis

First Shipment

Arrival

Dog hauling rigs like the one shown above transport the Greyhounds to Indianapolis from Daytona Florida.  The Greyhounds are loaded onto the rig and given water with electrolytes to keep their energy up for the long trip which is often 18 to 20 hours.  The dogs are anxious to get to some grass as they have not been walked since Florida.

First One Off

The drivers assist volunteers and adopters in unloading the Greyhounds from the rig.  The track muzzles are removed from the dogs and they are fitted with a new collar and lead. Then off to the grass for relief.

The Gang

The "Indy Gang" anxiously awaits arrival of the rig, leads ready to remove the muzzles and replace the track collars.

Bath Time

Terry Lohrman talks to "Tango" about her Spa Treatment (bath).  In the background, foster dogs are getting washed (and waxed) with flea and tick shampoo.

New Family

Daniel, Brooke and "Joey" pose with their new family addition, "Softie" (Softie is on the left).  Daniel and Brooke Hayes are one of the many two hound families.  They adopted "Joey" from another adoption group that is no longer in operation.  Welcome to Greyhound Pets of America Daniel, Brooke, Joey and Softie!!
